ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL

Today, 26 Oct 2009, is the one year birthday anniversary of my blog.  So, here is anniversary special post for you.  I have been busy with work lately.  My apology for not updating the blog on regular basis.  But I will try my best.  YOU know how much I love my blog.

A BRIEF BACKGROUND

THE THARABA GATEWAY (also known as SARABHA GATEWAY) is the main gate of the east wall and the only structure left of the old city built by King Pyinbya in the 9th century A.D.  Traces of stucco carvings on the frieze are visible on the exterior walls.  The entrance to it is guarded by two guardian nats or spirits.  The two spirits are of brother and sister, each of whose image is deposited in a masonry shrine, the male on the left and the female on the right as once enters the city by it.

Yes, that’s the entrance to Bagan…

DSC_6828_resize

I saw this cart passing by and had a snapshot...

DSC_6843_resize

It was Ko J's idea to climb up to the wall and shoot... Finally, we did that...

That's the inner part of gate... That's our ride during Bagan trip...

Nice warm color tones. Nice retouch and I like the fourth one but better put the whole horse’s legs at the foreground. Because I felt one is missing.

at a 1st glance, i seriously fall in luv with the dry tone that can perfectly portray the sense of A Nyar… i can tell that dry tone plays the most prominent feature to make the pics unique… thz again for the brief background, explaining about those guardian spirits of the gate… for the pics, i luv the first 3 ones… the very 1st one, the perfect pic in my eyes for this topic, makes me feel like i’m standing right in front of the grand gate… the dry color & the cluster of gray cloud from the corner depict nature the scorching cloudy day in A Nyar… like always, i luv the shot of moving subject in #2… for #3, i wanna salute Ko J for his stunning idea & u for ur great wide angle shot… i’ve only seen the pics of Tharaba Gate that were shot from the front… the combination of different angle & wide lens gives the extraordinary art… ;D… oh btw, i’m really sorry for being late to give a comment… like i said, i wanna give a comment only when i have time to look at the pics in detail & get the feelings from them… of course i’ve seen those pics for weeks… but i juz had time to scan them roughly that i didn’t notice most of the critical subjects of the pics like the appearance of the sky from #1… WELL DONE AGAIN MY BRO!!! no exaggerating… this topic is the one i adore most among ur Bagan topics since Tharaba Gate is my fav thing in Bagan besides Dhammayangyi… CHEERS!!! ;D

@ Pon Gyi >> Thanks a lot for your long comment. Your comments have become a very prominent custom on my blog. Believe me or not. There are couples of my friends who came to my blog for 2nd time just to see your comment. I seriously mean it.
Talking about this post and the pics, thanks goes to Ko J for his shooting spot selection and Ko Htoon Lin Soe (Rain Stealer) for introducing me about this DRY TONE. For me, THE GRAND ANANDA still stands on the top of my BAGAN posts. I am glad that you love this post and good luck for your exams… Drawing near to go back Ygn huh?
