@ Joe >> Thanks for the comment. Yes, I have heard from my Dad about that. It's hard to commute to Maung Ma Kan from town. Now, it's only 30 minute drive.

Those birds (boats) are signature of Maung Ma Kan!

I remember the times when there was no bridge from town (Dawai) and the jeep has to be transported across on a raft to get to the beach. Beach was a lot less crowded then too because it was a lot harder to access from town even though distance wise, not too far.

Back then all you had to do was to walk down to the beach from the bungalow and find basket full of shells, all sizes. I remember going for crab hunting on the beach at night too, fun memories.

I find Ngapali beach sand to be finer grained and brighter (less mud) but I prefer Maung Ma Kan because, it is not as commercial and a lot cozier. Don't need no stinking 5 star hotels, just a clean long-legged bungalow with oil lanterns and straw mat with a good mosquito net. No? :D

Too bad about the trash though. People are prob. not trashing on the beach itself but when near by towns/villages dump plastic and trash in their local streams and rivers, these things flows into the ocean and then ends up onto what was once a very pristine sandy beach. It is all over Asia these days, but looks worse on Maung Ma Kan because it is located next to a few local river outlets flowing into the ocean.

@ Fang Fang >> Yes, it is the second most beautiful beach after Ngapali. However, Maung Ma Gan is still untouched...

@ Linn >> That's true. We need a responsive committee to take care this beautiful beach. Once there was a plan to allow to raise up HOTELS along the beach. Unfortunately, it becomes MISSION IMPOSSIBLE and the budget had been allocated to NGWE SAUNG beach...

i just revisited this again LOL

YLO, I doubt palm tress produced blue colour plastic bags and one-time used foam boxes that are very bad to the environment.

to be honest, plant disposals are not also good for the beach too.. but yea.. that's basically we can't control...

Love the sea; love the boats; I wish more of the tree on the right is in the picture. That would have effectively framed the picture on the right. The main point of interest in the picture is the boats, and you have managed to do exactly that. Good job, bro!
