THE UNTOUCHED MAUNG MA GAN

The scenic Maungmagan Beach, the second oldest beach found in Myanmar after Ngapali, is approximately 45-minutes drive away from Da-wei. I used to have a series of Maungmagan shots on my personal photography blog under the title, THE INTACT BEAUTY. There are also a number of hot water springs around the outskirts, about one to a few hours’ drive from Da-wei, the capital of Tenasserim division.

I captured this shot during my last trip to Da-wei in 2008 April. Time was around 13:45. That’s the moment fishing boats come back to the beach and sell the harvested seafood. The sea, the sky and the beach appeared to be a harmonious opera to me…

the sea is so pretty, the sky is awesome, but the beach is quite dirty.. it’s time to stop careless disposal in our beautiful beaches.

One of the beautiful beaches from our beloved country, only difficult to go there and need to develop the tourist attractions (as hotels), i will try to go there. This beach is prettier than Sat Sae beach i think.

@ Linn >> Ko Linn. Thanks for your comment and suggestion towards disposal management. Actually, these are not the trash thrown by people. The natural disposal from trees along the shore. Totti palm trees, coconut trees and those tall X’Mas trees are the main sources of these disposal.

@ Thawdar >> Yes. Infrastructure there is helpless. No 5-Star hotel, no high class restaurant. But there is something you can’t get in other beaches. That’s the UNTOUCHED BEAUTY of the beach itself.

@ Saw Yu Mon >> My sis. I miss home too. I would love to have SUN RISE shots of Maung Ma Gan during next trip to there. Why don’t you join us in coming Ancestor Homage? We go together yea?

@ Pyi Soe >> Yes, bro. We need to clean. But these are not thrown by people. The disposal of the trees planted along the shore. Coconut, Palm trees and other leaflets…

@ Naw Naw >> You should, my sis. You will see the UNTOUCHED BEAUTY.

@ SY >> Cool. Maung Ma Gan hot spring is really popular there. People believe it has some miracle power which could even cure stroke patients.

@ Myo Kyaw Htun >> You should visit either Maung Ma Gan or Ngapali. Go one of these two. The other beaches are just so so.

[...] again, this is a beach shot. I had crafted this shot back in 2008 April on the bank of MAUNG MA GAN beach. I was walking on the shore with my aunt. Saw this girl crying on the beach. She seems being hurt [...]

Love the sea; love the boats; I wish more of the tree on the right is in the picture. That would have effectively framed the picture on the right. The main point of interest in the picture is the boats, and you have managed to do exactly that. Good job, bro!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
February 26th, 2009

AMUSING WITH SAND
March 3rd, 2009

i just revisited this again LOL

YLO, I doubt palm tress produced blue colour plastic bags and one-time used foam boxes that are very bad to the environment.

to be honest, plant disposals are not also good for the beach too.. but yea.. that’s basically we can’t control…

Linn
March 3rd, 2009

@ Linn >> That’s true. We need a responsive committee to take care this beautiful beach. Once there was a plan to allow to raise up HOTELS along the beach. Unfortunately, it becomes MISSION IMPOSSIBLE and the budget had been allocated to NGWE SAUNG beach…

Fang Fang
March 3rd, 2009

@ Fang Fang >> Yes, it is the second most beautiful beach after Ngapali. However, Maung Ma Gan is still untouched…

Those birds (boats) are signature of Maung Ma Kan!

I remember the times when there was no bridge from town (Dawai) and the jeep has to be transported across on a raft to get to the beach. Beach was a lot less crowded then too because it was a lot harder to access from town even though distance wise, not too far.

Back then all you had to do was to walk down to the beach from the bungalow and find basket full of shells, all sizes. I remember going for crab hunting on the beach at night too, fun memories.

I find Ngapali beach sand to be finer grained and brighter (less mud) but I prefer Maung Ma Kan because, it is not as commercial and a lot cozier. Don’t need no stinking 5 star hotels, just a clean long-legged bungalow with oil lanterns and straw mat with a good mosquito net. No? :D

Too bad about the trash though. People are prob. not trashing on the beach itself but when near by towns/villages dump plastic and trash in their local streams and rivers, these things flows into the ocean and then ends up onto what was once a very pristine sandy beach. It is all over Asia these days, but looks worse on Maung Ma Kan because it is located next to a few local river outlets flowing into the ocean.

@ Joe >> Thanks for the comment. Yes, I have heard from my Dad about that. It’s hard to commute to Maung Ma Kan from town. Now, it’s only 30 minute drive.
