In Love With Moe Sabei Lay Win
ABOUT THE PHOTO
It is a snapshot taken on 26 Apr 2009. I went Shwedagon Pagoda to test my SIGMA 10-20mm wide angle aspherical lens. I took around 50 shots during dawn and decided to go back home since the sun beam became way too passionate. I parked my car at Western Approach. So, I walked to my car and started the engine. All of a sudden, I saw a family walking towards the Western Approach. A couple with a little daughter who was wearing Burmese Traditional Costumes i.e. Sarong (in Burmese, Hta Mi) and Blouse (in Burmese, Yin Phone Ein Gyi). Moreover, I fell in love with THA – NUT – KHAR (Burmese traditional make up) on her face. So I asked the Dad for permission to take pictures. Dad asked his daughter, “Hey Mie Mie, you want to take some pictures?” Little girl smiled and nodded her head. Yes!!! I did captured 6 shots in total. And I asked her name. She whispered, “Moe Sabei Lay Win”. She is so cute.
The synchronization of fashion trend with western world, Burmese ladies nowadays prefer skirts, t-shirts, pants to those traditional costumes. I rarely see Burmese ladies wearing Yin Phone Ein Gyi. And whenever I saw kids wearing such traditional costumes, my ego asked me to click the shutter release button. I simply love this costume. Pride of Burma…
