Since late 2010, I have been really busy under very tight working schemes. The so called peak season or end-of-year holidays had come and a lot of our colleagues frittered their annual leaves in NOV and DEC. The scenario resulted in the alarming shortage of manpower and we all have been packed with piles of jobs. The world had been so mean to me that I did not have Christmas eve and New Year celebration. If you ask me what did I do on Christmas eve, I was working in the sea. Being said that, we had waved our hands to hectic 2010. Here it comes 2011 and all those colleagues (holidays goers) are back. I was simply expecting that my very schedules would be loosen up and back to regular. But then the rising crude oil price employ us under 24/7 schedules again. One off-shore job completed and I was still on the way back home. Instructions for another job turned up in my mobile phone. The very nature of our job needs a lot of physical strength. A human needs 8 hours sleep in every 24 hours cycle. Unfortunately we are not blessed with this sleep cycle. We do business on behalf of our clients for their multi-million dollars deals. Every job needs to be meticulous and specific. It is strictly zero tolerance level job. Means, we cannot relax or sleep during any operation. Yes, we can’t sleep or rest when the operation is “ON”. So, what if the operation is a 36-hour job? The same rule still applies i.e. work sleeplessly 36 hours. So I would say I am a bit stressed out both physically and mentally.
Irregular meal times summed up and made me a little retarded insomnia. I try to sleep and some time later I wake up again from the dreams. I have been dreaming about Bagan many times. My dreams are all about those memories recalling bits by bits. Dreams reminding me about the past. I don’t know how to describe it precisely but it’s quite weird.
- I was eating breakfast with my Sayar ThaKhinGyi early in the morning
- I was busy shooting with him at Ananda Temple
- I was so drunk after taking Mandalay Rum mixed up with Myanmar Beer
- I was buying some post cards from the two little girls at Shwesandaw Pagoda
- The horse drawn cart we have hired went broken on the way to Old Bagan. . .
That’s the reason, I am making a flash back into those pictures taken during my Bagan trip. Yes, it’s been quite some time that I do not touch Bagan photos. So I was trying to see those places I have seen in my dreams. And I happened to come across with some of my Bagan candid shots that I haven’t shared.
Bagan has been all time #1 fav shooting spot for me. I love every single picture taken in Bagan. I adore every corner of those pagodas and temples. I miss every single moment of Bagan road trip.
In memories of 2009 June BAGAN road trip with ThaKhinGyi and Ko Htin Lin Aye @ MgHla.

white clouds above the horizon
yellow clouds against the blue
Thatbyinnyu, Ananda
Shwe Zigon
the setting sun bequeaths
a bright casket
aglow with the ardour of men gone
infinity was in their eyes
Ayeyarwady’s (Irrawaddy) rhythm in their fingers
piety’s beauty in their arms
these forms illuminate
our corridors of quotidian apprehensions
our stairways of occasional hope
white clouds above the horizon
yellow clouds against the blue
an afterglow that will not fade

I bought couples of post cards from these two cheerful girls at Shwesandaw Pagoda… Their face, their posture simply reflects typical Burmese girls… I miss those days a lot…
