These are vulnerable Buddha images on SHWEDAGON pagoda. It was 9th DECEMBER 2008. I was with one of my close friends, WAI YAN CHIT MAUNG, on SHWEDAGON pagoda. We intended to grasp the misty sunrise of December from the platform (in Burmese, Yin Byin) of the pagoda. Yes, we did capture couples of sunrise shots until 7AM. After that, the sunlight became too intense that we both did not fancy the exposure anymore. We decided wrapping up our equipment to call it a morning. But then, we walked along the platform to pay homage to the pagoda. I saw these Buddha images near southern approach/entrance (in Burmese, Zaung Tann). So, I had stopped by a while and captured these shots. There are 28 images honorably positioned in line. I took 2 shots from different edges. These Buddha images are recently being offered by gold thus the colors are miraculous under powerful sunlight.
On SHWEDAGON platform (in Burmese, Yin Byin Taw), we have thousands and thousands of Buddha images donated by different donors from era to era. Can you imagine how many thousands of images are being donated since the construction 2,500 years ago? No wonder SHWEDAGON becomes one of the world’s biggest heritages.
